AdSheriff – Privacy Policy

AdSheriff is a browser extension that blocks advertising — including disguised and native ads — on web pages.

1. What is transmitted

For AI-based detection (stage 2), the extension sends only compact element metadata of individual DOM elements to the AdSheriff backend (adsheriff-relay.pages.dev), which forwards it to the TypeSafe API (api.typesafe.ai, model jev-latest) for classification:

Element tag name and size
Text snippets truncated to at most 200 characters
Relevant HTML attributes (e.g. class, id, data-*, src host)
Hostnames of linked resources and URL signals (e.g. advertisementId=)
Hostname of the visited page (e.g. example.com) as context

2. What is not transmitted

No full page content, article text, or HTML
No personal data: no form data, passwords, cookies, search queries, e-mails, or account information
No browsing history, visit tracking, or user fingerprinting
No API key — the TypeSafe key resides exclusively server-side as an encrypted Cloudflare secret and is never transmitted to end devices

3. Local storage

Settings, verdict cache, learned rules, and daily statistics stay in the browser profile (chrome.storage), never leave the browser, and can be deleted in settings or by uninstalling the extension.

5. Retention & deletion

Requests are forwarded for answering and not stored persistently server-side. Local data remains until deleted in settings or the extension is removed. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the requested service); no profiles are created and no data is shared for advertising purposes. You have rights of access, rectification, and deletion — since all persistent data is local, deletion is possible at any time by removing the extension.
